ATTIRE FOR SUNDAY SERVICE
sound good // look good
Worship attire is typically modest, clean, and respectful clothing that shows honor to God. It's generally considered polite to avoid clothing that is revealing, distracting, or offensive.
What to wear
Why to dress respectfully
What to wear
- Women: Knee-length dresses or skirts with layers and accessories
- Men: Ironed shirts and slacks with suitable shoes
- Both: Avoid clothing that is too tight or revealing
Why to dress respectfully
- To show honor to God and the sacred space
- To focus on Christ, not our figure
- To express your relationship with Jesus
What to consider
- The level of the stage and lighting can impact the transparency of the fabric and outfit
- What is fashionable on the streets, in your school, or place of work might
not be appropriate at church - Use the mirror, raise your hands above your head and see if your tummy or back show. Bend over to see how your skirt reacts.
- Logos and graphic t-shirts, people may have various opinions about the brand, graphic or political statement. If it will distract or divide, don’t wear it.
- Check your fly! Use the full-length mirror backstage and take a good last look before you step on stage.
- Do Iron Your Clothes - You want to look clean, sharp, presentable, and professional.
- Our culture - When attending Regional or International events, remember not all churches are the same, what works for us does not always work for other churches. When ministering at other churches the standard is typically more traditional.
